The Hevea Brasiliensis tree — once found exclusively in the Amazon Rainforest — is tapped when mature for a milky, white sap, much like maple syrup. That latex is exported to the USA and formed into foam mattresses using the eight-step Talalay method.
Natural rubber's story stretches back to 1600 BC, when the Olmecs passed the knowledge of Hevea latex to the ancient Mayans, who used it to make rubber balls for Mesoamerican ballgames. It wasn't until the late 1800s that Hevea seeds left Brazil to establish rubber plantations across the tropics.

We are not a big manufacturer — we usually make only one mattress a day. Most mattresses today are quilted on one side only, with the "good stuff" reserved for the top half and no handles at all.
Ours are hand made one at a time, quilted on both sides, and made completely reversible, with the highest quality materials from top to bottom. We believe you should love your mattress, and we take a great deal of pride in what we do.

The Talalay method is a complex process that produces precise densities and feel. With the exception of gellation reagents, it shares many of the same base ingredients as the Dunlop formulation, and is sold as a healthier substitute for petroleum-based foams, which release volatile organic compounds as they age.
Talalay Global combines styrene-butadiene rubber with latex derived from the Hevea tree to create the final Talalay product — the degree of naturalness varies by manufacturing process, which is why sourcing and craftsmanship matter.
